Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, the original IT girl, has become a household name since she first came to the attention of the media in 1996. After four memorable years as a columnist for the Sunday Times she now has a weekly page in Closer magazine and continues to contribute to titles such as GQ, the Observer, Harpers and Queen, The Telegraph, Tatler, instyle, eve and the Times. She has also enjoyed hosting a live radio show for LBC every Friday.
Tara’s television profile is second to none, successfully hosting prime time shows for ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4 and the BBC, including, ‘Animals do the Funniest Things’, ‘Junior Eurovision’ and coverage of ‘I’m a Celebrity get me out of here’ with Ant and Dec. Returning to the jungle for a fourth time to host ITV2’s coverage of ‘I’m a Celebrity’ from the Australian outback.
Tara is also a notorious presenter, entertaining interviewee and celebrity contestant on such shows as E4’s ‘Pop World’, C4’s ‘Place in the Sun’, ITV’s ‘Celebrities under pressure’, ‘Top of the Pops’, C4’s ‘100 Greatest’ series, E4’s ‘if only I Could Meet…’, ITV’s ‘With a Little Help from my friends’, and BBC’s what kids really think’.
Tara is also proud to be the ‘posh’ face of Walkers’ highly successful range of flavoured crackers ‘Sensations’, lending her own inimitable style to the household brand. Tara was also proud to host the ‘Clothes Show Live’ in Birmingham where she appeared as the face of a national campaign by the internet provider, Freeserve, and is currently working on another project with Granada for release at the end of this year.
Tara regularly hosts live events such as ‘Face of eve Magazine’ at London Fashion Week and tying in with her classical background, she was the star host of Classic FM Gramophone awards 2005. As an accomplished concert pianist, Tara has also enjoyed playing at the Royal Festival Hall with the National Symphony Orchestra entertaining audiences with Mozart at the Royal Albert Hall, taking part in a performance at The Coliseum for the Leonard Bernstein Tribute.
Tara is also a well groomed horse rider and skier, and has given inspirational school talks on the effects of drug abuse and is a tireless campaigner for such charities as Childline, The Lavender Trust Breast Cancer, the Chemical Dependency Centre and St Mary’s Paddington emergency unit.
Tara has also received such accolades as ‘Woman of the Year’ 2005 by New Woman magazine.
All of these qualities have secured her place in the nation’s hearts – and her fans can now get up close and personal with their favourite star as she has been immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds!! Granada has also given her, her very own mini TPT, who attends Tara’s commitments and events when she’s unavailable.
